"As a young child, my mom introduced me to the world of comics. The more I began to explore this new world more I become a fan of its powerful storytelling conveyed through the combination of illustrative words or powerful imagery. I would get swept up in their fictional worlds, caught up in the character’s crisis, and heave a huge sigh of relief as we inched closer to the end. I have dedicated my life as a sequential artist to excite my readers in the same way by pushing and challenging what is possible when it comes to storytelling in sequential art."

Why the name Cicadoideas?

What does it mean?

Who am I?

And Why?

Creativity came to aid my mind as a child, most summers I've spent behind my apartment walls (due to family circumstances) I wasn't able to go outside as often, I long to play outside and explore. And for days I'll stare at the window to feel the breeze from my apartment window, listening to the sound of annual Cicadas beckoning me to come out and play. As I couldn't, I turned to art. My obsession to create has occupied my mind and led me to pursue this path. I'm self-taught from acrylic on canvas to Indian ink on paper, mainly learning new techniques and styles as I work. I now ask one question, how does my work make you feel?

"Arsenic in Blue was originally conceived back in 2010 by me, Samantha Golden when I was in grad school. My dream was, and is, to learn how to create beautiful jewelry that conveys how I see the world. In the study of alchemy, arsenic represents transformation, both in the physical and spiritual sense. And as a born-and-bred New Yorker, I have a special love for Rhapsody in Blue by Gershwin, a song that brings the energy of the city to life. 11 years later with my husband, Ian Krasser, we are now working together to learn how to put my story out into the world with beautiful gems and designs. We believe that jewelry represents moments, chapters, celebrations, and tragedies. We want to share our story and maybe become a small part of yours."
